November 17, 2012 - Formation Practice 4-Ship | ||||||
| The weather was great this Saturday morning: not very cold, smooth air, and good visibility. Perfect for some formation flying! Myself and five others were going to meet at Cecil County Airport at 10:30. I crossed the Bay and then headed north. Normally I'll go down low over this part of the shore, but the visibility was so nice, I just stayed at 2000 feet and enjoyed the different perspective. At the top of the screen is the famous "road" I liked to fly over in the Cub. | ||||||

Looking east at the Chesapeake
and Delaware Canal that cuts across Maryland and Delaware and connects
the Chesapeake Bay with the Delaware River. Forty percent of
all the Port of Baltimore ship traffic goes through here. Who
knew? | ||||||

| I met Mugsy (RV-8), Tommy (CJ) and Lawbreaker (RV-8) at Cecil County. The other two planes had to cancel but we still had a four-ship which was nice. | ||||||

| We briefed in the nice, new FBO facility, and then had a great flight. Above 3000 feet the air was smooth as silk. In addition, all four pilots knew what they were doing which made for a very enjoyable flight. Afterwards, Tommy and Lawbreaker had to RTB (return to base) but Mugsy and I headed north an additional 20 miles for lunch at Chester County Airport, which has an on-field restaurant. Then we headed for home down the Eastern Shore in close formation. | ||||||
