Oshkosh AirVenture 2009 - Jul 25 - Aug 2

It's the Disneyland of Aviation:  the annual weeklong Experimental Aviation Association AirVenture fly-in at Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

I came to a point in my RV project when I told myself I would not go to AirVenture or Sun 'N Fun again until I flew there in my own RV.  And I stuck to it.

Even though I finally flew the RV in April, it ended up being pretty tight as far as getting my Phase One hours flown off, wheel pants and gear fairings installed, and final painting accomplished in time.  I worked as hard the two months before AirVenture as I had at any time during the entire project.

This AirVenture was different for me as it was the first time I would be attending the entire week.  Also, it would be the first time I'd be camping in the North 40.

To cut to the chase, the RV flew perfectly the entire week.  The weather was, mostly, great, the fly-in was well attended, and I enjoyed being a part of "the Gaithersburg Group".  We flew three mornings during the week.  Most of all, I enjoyed just knowing that I had arrived by air in an airplane that I had built myself.  That's what the EAA and AirVenture is all about.

I got a little carried away this year with the pictures.  I have grouped them sort of categorically.   Hope you like them.
