December 19, 2009 - Big Snow

Maryland hasn't had a significant snowfall -- significant being more than a few inches -- in years so we were due.  It snowed all day Saturday burying us under two feet of snow.

Looking out into the neighbor's yard.

Our back yard.

Looking out the garage Sunday morning.  It's time for the dreaded "shoveling of the driveway".

Somewhere under the snow is my driveway.

Looking at the next door neighbor's front yard.

Three hours later, it is done.  After the first five minutes, I thought, I'm not going to be able to do this.  But once I got warmed upit wasn't so bad.

It wasn't just me, Lynnette helped and we had a token of effort from the 15 year old daughter.

The next day, everyone at work was sore from shoveling snow, even the guys with the snow blowers.

The Essex Skypark runway and main taxiway was plowed within a day or two but it took over a week for the snow to melt from the hangar to main taxiways.  Essex is basically swamp land, so if you went off the taxiway, you'd be mired in mud.  I just resigned myself to now flying for a couple of weeks as there was no way I was going to shovel the taxiway by hand.
